Best Practice Report: Green Supply Chain Management

It is important for organisations to consider moving towards Green Supply Chain Management (GrSCM). It is not a fad: it is becoming a necessity. Implementing GrSCM best practices has the potential to provide financial benefits (such as increased revenue, reduced costs, improved asset utilisation, and enhanced customer service); environmental benefits (such as reduced waste, increased energy efficiencies, reduced air and water emissions, and reduced fuel consumption); and social benefits (such as reduced community impacts, minimised traffic congestion through improved transportation management, and better health and safety). Learning informally to improve work practices survey
A current PhD project in the Centre for Organizational Excellence Research at Massey University needs your help. The project is about learning to improve work practices by learning informally from others.The purpose of the survey is to understand how organizations around the world informally learn (apart from formal training or courses) better practices and implement or adapt them to increase the effectiveness of their own organization.

If you have an interest in seeking an alternative cost-effective way of business improvement, this survey is for you. The results of the survey will be emailed to you and certainly be of benefit to you as well. In addition, you will receive one month of access to BPIR.com absolutely free upon completion of this survey!

Your responses will be kept completely confidential and your name will not be reported in any of our results. You should be able to complete the survey within 30 minutes or less.

Collaboration software helps protect knowledge
Knowledge is perhaps one of the most important assets that an organization possesses. Rather than attempting to capture and collate all of the information held by an organisation, collaboration tools have been developed that enable personnel to both interact with one another and to locate specific knowledge of interest. The Shaw Group needed to protect the knowledge held by its engineers and therefore turned to a proprietary web-based tool which provided access to more than 21,000 reference works that engineers could use to search for relevant data. The engineers were also able to use the system for sharing information locally and to collaborate with employees working in different geographic regions. The system ensured that everyone had access to the same information, and it enabled users to create their own personal knowledge management systems which could be saved for future reference both by themselves and by their colleagues..   …..….read more case studies
